Airport information by ICAO and IATA code
Every entry keys off the identifiers pilots actually file with: the four-letter ICAO code that appears in flight plans and METAR reports, and the three-letter IATA code printed on tickets and baggage tags. Search by either one — the airport information page behind it carries the same reference set every time: elevation above mean sea level in feet and metres, coordinates in decimal and DMS, runway identifiers with length, width and surface, and whether the field sees scheduled service. How current is the airport information?
The reference layer regenerates from the OurAirports dataset on every site build, so identifiers, elevations and runway records track the upstream data. Operational status can still change faster than any dataset — check NOTAMs for anything that matters to a flight.
Why do some airports have an ICAO code but no IATA code?
IATA codes exist for commercial traffic — ticketing and baggage — so thousands of general-aviation fields never receive one. Every field in a flight plan or METAR is addressed by its ICAO code instead.
Is elevation given above sea level or above ground?
Above mean sea level, in feet with the metric conversion alongside — the same convention charts and approach plates use. Cloud bases in METAR reports, by contrast, are heights above the aerodrome.
Can I look an airport up by city name?
Yes — the search box accepts names, cities, ICAO and IATA codes. Typing «Madrid» finds every listed field around the city, while «LEMD» or «MAD» jumps straight to Barajas.
